The primary purpose of this position is to perform still and video photography for communication campaigns, training, documentation, identification and research. To plan photography projects, selection of subjects, background, positioning and manner of presentation supportive of the mission. To process photos and videos with computer, software and printer equipment.
Duties
Provides specialized still and video photographic support.
Operates on location and studio still and video cameras and editing equipment.
Manages and cares for photographic equipment, supplies, and materials.
Assists in carrying out the public affairs program and produces materials that support the commander's public affairs goals.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, GS-1060 series.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-08, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: Perform a variety of specialized still and video photography requirements including, but not limited to, criminal evidence and crime scenes, accident sites, ceremonies, events, and other specialized work requests. Review incoming request and coordinate with requesters to determine the photographic requirements of the subject in relation to the technical problems or situations. Advise on product media, equipment capabilities, best reproduction method, lighting or camera angles, and photographic procedures. Use subject matter knowledge to anticipate stages in the procedure and recognize points of interest. Identify and confer with program specialists, action officers, and other subject matter experts to obtain the latest and most accurate information and imagery approved for public release. Perform operator maintenance of cameras and other photographic equipment.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-08 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of comprehensive still and video photographic principles and practices sufficient to plan and photograph subjects, events, and activities.
2. Knowledge of a variety of specialized photographic equipment, techniques, and processes sufficient to complete assignments requiring high degrees of detail, critical timing, and critical focus.
3. Knowledge of and skill in using computer hardware and software to generate high quality, precisely scaled still and video photographic images.
4. Ability to apply a variety of photographic and processing techniques.
5. Skill in operating standard and specialized cameras and film processing equipment.
6. Ability to communicate effectively.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
