The primary purpose of the Sales Store Checker position is to operate a cash register scanning system to check out items and to receive payment for purchases made in a DeCA commissary.

Duties

Operate an electronic checkout system, makes change, and verifies change fund and amount of currency received during an assigned shift Manage change machines ensuring proper amounts of cash and coins are available. Assist customers by answering questions concerning prices, identification, and location of items. Count cash and negotiable instruments to prepare an accountability report. Manage the self-check-out registers assisting customers in the correct processing of their purchases. Change register tape, and clear routine equipment and scanning jams on registers. Requirements

  • Be a U.S. citizen or national. Applicants with a Permanent Resident Card are authorized to live and work in the U.S. but are not eligible for employment in positions requiring U.S. citizenship. If selected, proof of citizenship is required.

Qualifications

You must meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualifications for series 2091 and additional requirements by the announcement closing date. Your resume (and/or transcript if necessary) must clearly show that you have the qualifications described below. You can use experience, education, or a combination of the two to qualify. Experience: six (6) months of general experience. General experience is described as progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to perform the duties of Sales Store Checker. OR Education: One (1) full year of successfully completed education above high school at an accredited business, secretarial, technical school, junior college, college, or university. Transcripts are required if relying on education, in whole or in part, to qualify. See Required Documents for more information. OR Combination of experience and education: To calculate the combination, divide your total months of experience by 12, then divide your semester hours by 60 and add the two percentages. If the total is 100%, you meet the minimum qualifications through a combination of experience and education. Physical requirements: Work requires standing for prolonged periods of time, lifting up to 25 pounds independently and occasionally over 25 pounds with assistance, twisting, bending, and manual dexterity. May be exposed to hot or cold environments which may include temperature changes because of opening and closing of outside doors. You will attest to your ability to perform these physical requirements in the Questionnaire.
