You will serve as a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR in the TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.
Duties
You will drive and operate vehicles (e.g., fork lifts, tractor-trailers, trucks, full trailer combinations) to safely load, unload, remove, or relocate cargo.
You will transport cargo, hazardous material/waste, equipment, and personnel.
You will complete operator maintenance on vehicles assigned (e.g., air pressure, oil level, water in radiator, adequate fuel).
You will secure cargo to be transported by determining type, quantity, and configuration of cargo straps, chains, and devices.
You will operate forklifts to safely load and unload materials, tools, and equipment.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to possess a current California Class "B" Commercial Driver's license with P and H endorsements, and an Optional Form 346 (OF346) with forklift and ground support equipment endorsements.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION 1) Driving vehicles such as vans, dump trucks, van trucks, and forklifts; 2) Making judgments concerning loading, arranging cargo, clearances, turning radius, braking distance, and distance to maintain from preceding vehicles; 3) Selecting routes based on hazardous conditions and laws restricting use of roads base on size of trucks.
This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: To possess a valid Commercial Driver's License, Class B with P and H endorsements.
