This position is located in Petrified Forest National Park, in the Facilities Management Division.
This is a temporary promotion not to exceed 1 year, and can be extended up to 5 years.
Duties
Manage the continuous operation, maintenance, and rehabilitation of drinking water utility systems, including water storage, treatment, and distribution.
Manage wastewater collection and treatment systems.
Responsible for ensuring water and wastewater systems remain in full compliance with Federal, State and other regulatory requirements.
Ability to obtain and maintain proper operator certifications which are Water Treatment Grade 1, Water Distribution Grade 2, Wastewater Collection Grade 1, and Wastewater Treatment Grade 1.
Assist in contract projects as Contracting Officer's Representative on maintenance and repair projects and keep records for projects.
Perform maintenance and repairs on plumbing systems, such as the repair or replacement of defective pipes of the water supply and sewer systems.
Responsible for mentoring lower graded employees on proper methods of operation, monitoring and maintenance of water distribution and treatment facilities, and wastewater collection and treatment facilities.
Make plumbing repairs that can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, replacing, packing, and sealing defective parts of utility, supply, and disposal systems, such as dirty traps, sections of broken pipe, and leaky drains.
Mannually digs ditches for repair and installation of utility lines.
Operate heavy mobile equipment and tools such as back hoe, skid steer loader, fork lift, excavator, trencher, sewer pumper, sewer jetter, motor grader, front end loader.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. (SCREEN OUT)
Ability to interpret instructions, specification, etc. (includes blueprints reading)
Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment.
Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation repair, etc.
Knowledge of materials
Technical Practices (theoretical precise, artistic)
Use of measuring instruments
