You will serve as an IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) in the Cyber Operations & Oversight Branch (Code 10923), Information
Cybersecurity Division (Code 1092), in the Information Technology (IT) and Cybersecurity Office (ITACS), Office (Code 109) at Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) Portsmouth, VA.
Duties
You will provide proactive and real-time monitoring, detection, analysis, response, and reporting capabilities of Cyber events that pose a threat.
You will perform complex system analysis to monitor, detect and counter against know cyber-threats.
You will implement and operate defense in depth technologies that effectively detect, analyze, prevent and isolate anomalous activity.
You will work closely with users and organizations to ensure that activities and incidents occurring on information systems and security enclaves are detected, contained and mitigated.
You will provide rapid response, containment and mitigation of incidents to return compromised network resources to acceptable levels of confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
You will monitor the security posture of the installed equipment by implementing IT systems compliance assessments.
You will conduct risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks and protection needs.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Experience: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying Federal, Department of Defense, and departmental policy, rules and regulations regarding Information Technology and other IT standards and practices and extensive knowledge and skill in Information Assurance Management.
Experience utilizing cyber security as well as a wide range of computer hardware, operating systems, and networked communications techniques and protocols.
Experience displaying the application and enforcement of physical, personnel, emanations, and administrative security countermeasures and knowledge of and ability to monitor, detect, and counter against known cyber-threats to Norfolk Naval Shipyard Networks.
Experience evaluating logs with assistance to determine possible causes of issues/problems to determine cause and corrective actions to be taken and advanced ability to provide data protection, data loss prevention, antivirus/antispyware, and rogue system detection.
Experience applying security principals, monitoring, tuning troubleshooting techniques and ability to analyze, diagnose, and repair miscellaneous equipment and software
GS-11:
