You will serve as a TOOLMAKER in the Mechanical Shop (Code 930) Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA.
Duties
You will manufacture complete machines designed for special nuclear operations.
You will design and manufacture rubber and plastic molds from aluminum and steel.
You will manufacture rubber and plastic products from molds.
You will use blueprints, sketches, nuclear and non nuclear technical work documents methods to lay out and set up work.
Requirements

ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION.
Ability to draw sketches, design jigs and all types of features including dies for sheet metal work.
Ability to select materials and machines to complete jobs using a variety of precision instruments and test equipment.
Ability to apply knowledge gained from machinist handbook consisting of heat treatment of steel, allowances for fits, all types of gearing, screw thread sizes, roller bearings of all types and mathematical tables.
