About the Position: The mission of Health Promotion and Wellness is to advance Joint Force fitness through strategically developing, integrating, standardizing, and evaluating agile health promotion and wellness services in support of the National Defense Strategy.

Duties

Execute supervisory responsibilities for the enterprise Army Wellness Center Program. Responsible for the oversight of the enterprise Army Wellness Center (AWC) across the regions. Provide technical assistance and managerial guidance on all aspects of the enterprise Army Wellness Center (AWC) program. Assist in the developing, marketing, and promotion of the enterprise Army Wellness Center program. Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure standardization of program elements across the enterprise. Oversee program execution and identify program deficiencies across the enterprise, through standard performance metric development and reporting.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Up to 25% Business Travel is required.
  • May be subject to a one-year supervisory probationary period.
  • Incumbent must possess and maintain American College of Sports Medicine certification or other National Commission for Credentialing Agencies credential in health and wellness.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) that includes or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, such as exercise physiology, exercise science, kinesiology, nutrition, healthcare program management, health education or other health/wellness related fields.OR OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position such as exercise physiology, exercise science, kinesiology, nutrition, healthcare program management, health education or other health/wellness related fields, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the four-year course of study described in A above. In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:advising on wellness programs that deal with health promotion, worksite wellness, and/or physical fitness; providing health coaching; and conducting workshops on wellness programming for staff. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Managing Human ResourcesPlanning and EvaluatingProject ManagementSales and MarketingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
