About the Position: Serves as the Architectural Section's senior Architect technical specialist for highly complex and comprehensive Center of Standardization (COS), military, and civil works related design projects in Engineering Division with collective installation/program costs exceeding several hundred million dollars.
Duties
Primary senior Project Architect for assigned program area and called on for opinions and advice on any matter within or touching these complex projects and business processes required to execute design and deliverables and constructed products.
Uses existing business processes and develops new procedures and standards for carrying out the projects and represents the organization with authority on technical architectural matters within these projects.
Meets regularly with representatives of the District, Division, HQUSACE, public officials, other agencies, customers, consultants, construction firms, etc. to discuss the design and construction of various projects.
Organizes and directs all Engineering personnel, outside consultants, outside agencies, and other Corps Districts in the execution of the projects.
Controls and manages project milestones and budget from initial studies through construction support activities.
Pursues innovative solutions, keeps abreast of state-of-the-art technology and acquisition methods.
Acts in a consultant and advisory capacity to Construction Division and other agencies/elements involved in the project.

Basic Education Requirement for GS-0808-13:
A. Bachelor's degree (or higher) in architecture, or a related field that included 60 semester hours of course work in architecture or related disciplines of which at least (1) 30 semester hours were in architectural design, and (2) 6 semester hours were in each of the following: structural technology, properties of materials and methods of construction, and environmental control systems. B. Combination of education and experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the arts and sciences underlying professional architecture, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the architectural principles, methods, and techniques and their applications to the design and construction or improvement of buildings. I have a degree in architectural engineering which provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities substantially equivalent to those provided in the courses specified in A above. C. Combination of education and experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the arts and sciences underlying professional architecture, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the architectural principles, methods, and techniques and their applications to the design and construction or improvement of buildings. I have one year of experience working in an architect's office or in architectural work, which provided me with a thorough knowledge of the fundamental principles and theories of professional architecture, for each year short of graduation from a program of study in architecture. In the absence of college courses, I have five years of such experience. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
In addition to meeting the Basic Education Requirement below, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience:One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes: Applying advanced architectural theories, principles, and concepts to manage military and civil projects. Providing opinions and advice on complex projects required to execute design, deliverables, and constructed products. Representing the organization in high level meetings with various stakeholders and providing direction to project teams in resolving complex problems, meeting milestones and deadlines.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS 12).
