You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (NUCLEAR) in the Nuclear Fluids System and Mechanical Engineering Division (Code 2320) of PSNS and IMF.
Duties
You will research and review source documents, engineering drawings, manuals, references, databases, guidelines, instructions, regulations, standards, and other technical information to verify requirements for tooling efforts.
You will perform on-site checks of the worksite or equipment and observe the execution of nuclear work.
You will coordinate with shops, engineers, and off-yard tooling program liaisons to identify and resolve technical issues related to tooling and to facilitate tooling improvement initiative.
You will use Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, drafting/drawing programs to prepare and/or modify tooling and cleanliness closure plans that include design, critical dimensions, tooling material.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position requires considerable walking, climbing ladders and stairs, long periods of standing, standing, stooping, and crouching.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing technical direction, planning, and evaluation support of nuclear work execution in support of nuclear system maintenance and testing to identify operational deficiencies and recommend corrective action.
