About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the U.S. Army Intelligence & Security Command, U.S. Army Counterintelligence Command, Headquarters in Fort Meade, Maryland.
Duties
Provides Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in personnel security matters relating to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) administration and collateral information and accesses.
Validates that individuals are eligible for SCI and collateral access in accordance with applicable regulations and policies.
Serves as project manager for the Special Security Officer (SSO) ; ensuring the SETA (Security Education Training and Awareness) is in place, meets regulatory and policy requirements and includes mission-oriented security training.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on a T5 (or equivalent level) investigation with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
- TDY Travel will be less than 25% of the work schedule.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
- Must be able to pass the Army Defensive Driver's Training Course.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain the SFPC certification within their first two years of employment and the subsequent SPeD certifications one year thereafter. See additional information.

Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GG/GS-12).
Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
