This Position is located at: National Guard Bureau Readiness Center, Chief of Staff, Financial Management, Arlington, VA. About the Surrounding Area: Situated in Northern Virginia on the south bank of the Potomac River directly across from Washington D.C., Arlington is headquarters to many departments and agencies of the federal government, including the Department of Defense and is the location of many national memorials and museums.

Duties

Utilize travel, accounting, and budget systems to reconcile errors on a wide variety of nonstandard transactions, complaints or discrepancies. Ensure the final submission of vouchers to the Defense Finance and Accounting System (DFAS) for disbursement to traveler. Provide technical advice, information and assistance to customers and leadership regarding the travel of directorate personnel.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain a FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT Level 1 Certified within 24 months of employment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: utilize travel, accounting, and budget systems to reconcile errors on a variety of transactions; analyze travel authorizations and reimbursement requests for the fiscal year to determine funding needs; coordinate with resources managers to ensure liquidation of canceled appropriations; provide technical advice to personnel regarding travel; and research erroneous disbursements in order to report recurring activities to management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Decision SupportFinancial StewardshipFundamentals and Operations of Accounting Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
