You will serve as a Security Specialist at Johnson Space Center (JSC) in the areas of Communication Security (COMSEC), Industrial Security, Classified Information Security Information (CNSI), Contract Management, and Identity and Credential Management (ICAM).

Duties

Duties described below are at the full-performance level. Duties assigned at a lower grade level will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee. Serve as a Security Specialist with multiple responsibilities in the Security disciplines of Physical Security, Identity and Credential Management, Communication Security, Industrial Security, and Classified Information Security Information. Implement practices for the protection of property and individuals from threats or adversarial influences; carry out physical security countermeasures to protect personnel from potential threats; prevent unauthorized access and safeguard NASA assets. Support the Identity, Credentialing, and Access Control Management (ICAM) program; authorizes credentials, conducts background checks, manages tour access, and performs International Visits Coordinator (IVC) functions. Serve as the alternate COMSEC account manager (CAM) with duties to handle, control and safeguard sensitive COMSEC material and encryption equipment; support investigation of COMSEC incidents, audits, and provides guidance. Support Industrial Security processes for classification and clearance levels required for contract performance; product classification; access to communications security, intelligence, or international organization information. Support the Classified National Security Information (CNSI) Program policies, instructions, and procedures classification and declassification authority, derivative classification, document marking, safeguarding, and physical storage and control. Serve as organizational Government Purchase Card Holder in support of daily JSC Security Operations.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-09 level, you must have: a) One year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level: Collecting data to assist with evaluating security related reports; Applying an understanding of security processes and regulations to support communicating the requirements of personnel security; Assisting with implementing security policies or procedures in a related security functional area: Physical security, Identity and Credentialing Management (ICAM), Communication Security (COMSEC), Industrial Security, or Classified National Security Information (CNSI). OR b) Completed all requirements for a master's or equivalent graduate degree in an appropriate field OR c) Completed 2 full academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in an appropriate field OR d) LL. B or J.D, if related OR e) Have an equivalent combination of experience and graduate study as discussed in a), b), c) and d) above To qualify for GS-11, you must have: a) One year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level: Participating in evaluating security related reports, analyzing findings, and providing recommendations; Communicating security processes, regulations, or trainings utilizing comprehensive reports; Participating in identifying and implementing methods to enhance protection and security in areas related to: Physical Security, Identity and Credential Management (ICAM), Communication Security (COMSEC), Industrial Security, or Classified National Security Information (CNSI). OR b) Completed all requirements for a doctoral degree (i.e., Ph.D. or equivalent) in an appropriate field OR c) Completed 3 full academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree in an appropriate field OR d) LL.M., if related OR e) Have an equivalent combination of experience and graduate study as discussed in a), b), c) and d) above Your resume must include a clear and detailed narrative description, in your own words, of how you meet the required specialized experience.
