You will serve as a SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY of MARINE FORCES PACIFIC. A Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA) of 9.28% will be added to the stated salary. COLA is subject to change at any time.

Duties

You will plan, develop, manage, and provide oversight on all explosives safety matters in support on contingencies, combat operations, military operations, and associated training. You will provide the commander with reasoned, informed advice regarding explosives safety standards and levels of risk during explosives evolutions. You will provide technically accurate ground safety, range safety, tactical motor vehicle safety, explosives safety, and other SOH concerns that may affect mission readiness. You will conduct innovative analyses and extends accepted safety principles to develop and implement a comprehensive SOH assessment program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • You must complete required training and be certified as an Explosives Safety Officer within 24 months of appointment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: explosives safety principles and practices, safety and occupational health procedures and practices, and recommend control measures characterized by unsafe work processes.
