This position will serve as a student trainee and will receive training in analytical methods used to develop objectively based information in support of administrative and programmatic planning, development, evaluation, and managerial decision-making. On-the-job training assignments provide a practical understanding of the organization, programs, policies, and objectives of the agency as well as furnish experience in the application of principles, procedures, and work techniques.

Duties

As a Student Trainee (Office Support), you will: Compose routine correspondence, such as replies to requests for general information, or completion of standard form letters. Arrange conferences and meetings, which include scheduling space, preparation of materials, notification of participants, greeting and signing in guests, etc. Perform other related duties as assigned, including copying, collating and assembling documents, opening and distributing mail, requisitioning office supplies and service calls for office machines, serving as backup for other office support staff, and assisting on special projects. The Office of Multifamily Housing is responsible for the overall management, development, direction and administration of HUD's Multifamily Housing Programs. HUD's Multifamily programs provide mortgage insurance to HUD-approved lenders to facilitate the construction, substantial rehabilitation, purchase and refinancing of multifamily housing projects. MFH is widely responsible for production, asset management and portfolio oversight, and recapitalization of assisted properties, and field operations. As part of the National Housing Act of 1934, Congress created the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) which later became a part of the Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) Office of Housing in 1965.

You must meet eligibility and qualification requirements by the closing of this announcement. To qualify for the GS-04 grade level, you must meet the following requirements: General Experience: You may qualify with one year of general experience. General experience for this position is defined as: - One full year of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. OR Education: For the Pathways Internship Program you may qualify based solely on education as follows: Completion of 2 academic years of post-high school study or an Associate's degree. (This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.) OR Combination: You may qualify with a combination of qualifying education and experience. (For example: the completion of 50% requirements for an Associate's degree and 6 months of general experience.) If qualifying with experience, the experience may have been gained in either the public or private sector. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume.

Pathways Student Internship Program Education Requirement:

A. Must be a current student at an accredited high school (public or private) or in a home-school program*; college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, or trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution, on a full or half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled) pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate. *Secondary home-school curricula must be recognized by the State or local government oversight agency.

B. You must maintain student eligibility and enrollment for the duration of the internship. If you do not maintain eligibility and enrollment, you are ineligible for this program. Please review the "REQUIREMENTS" section of the vacancy announcement to ensure that you qualify to apply to this internship.

C. Every semester, you must maintain good academic standing with an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
