About the Position: This position is located at the US Army Military Police School, Law Enforcement Tactics Branch on Fort Leonard Wood. Fort Leonard Wood is located in the South-Central Missouri Ozarks. The Fort covers more than 61,000 acres and is located in Pulaski County, Mo. Bordering the installation are the towns of Waynesville/St. Robert and St. Louis is a 2hr. drive to the East along I-44 and Springfield is an hour's drive to the West of Fort Leonard Wood.

Duties

Promote, produce, and present valid tactical training to Federal and DOD students in accordance with governing laws, regulations, directives, and Programs of Instruction or POI's. Incorporate new ideas and methodologies and applies new and innovative practices as appropriate. Provide solutions and recommendations to problems that affect training, policies, and regulations. Maintain current knowledge of technology and training associated with law enforcement tactical response. Analyze requirements documents, develop training plans and manages resources. Develop and update lesson plans and training support materials. Utilize weapons expertise to conduct marksmanship training with rifle/carbine, pistol, shotgun, submachine gun, sniper weapons systems, nonstandard weapons, and non-lethal weapons/munitions employment. Utilize law enforcement tactical response and military small unit operational expertise to present instruction in the following topics: concepts, organization, employment of special reaction teams, nonstandard weapons systems, and urban breaching. Utilize law enforcement critical operational techniques, entry and movement/mobility, urban ascending and descending, scoped precision rifles, night vision, and specialized physical and technical skills required of SRT members. Travel under official orders to CONUS and OCONUS locations to conduct training (may include combat or hostile fire zone). Perform duties as Range Safety Officer (RSO)/Assistant Range Safety Officer (ARSO) duties: to ensure technical/administrative compliance with range user safety requirements outlined in AR 385- 63, local range regulations. Construct and employ explosive breaching charges and initiating systems. Wear and maintain protective and load bearing equipment/clothing. Utilize manual and mechanical tools to support minor construction requirements.

Requirements

  • The employee must be willing and able to travel on military and commercial aircraft.
  • The employee may be required to work overtime to include weekends and federal holidays, out of cycle, unscheduled training, and on an emergency basis.
  • The employee may be recalled to duty from scheduled time off.
  • This position requires the employee to pass a pre-appointment physical and subsequent periodic medical examinations.
  • This position requires the employee drive a motor vehicle. Must obtain and maintain a current and valid driver's license.
  • This position requires the employee to be a successful graduate of the USAMPS Special Reaction Team and Special Reaction Team Marksman/Observers Courses, Range Control Certification class, and Instructor Development Course.
  • Successful completion of these courses includes passing all physical fitness requirements, demonstrates ability to execute subject matter tactics, techniques, and procedures.
  • Incumbent must pass all practical exercises to include day and night live fire, obstacle course, weapon qualifications, and written examinations in accordance with course student evaluation plans within 3 months of employment.
  • This position requires the employee to be certified as a Special Reaction Team and Special Reaction Team Marksman/Observer Instructor in accordance with USAMPS.
  • The incumbent must be certified with the Advanced Law Enforcement Training Division Instructor Certification programs within the first 3 months of employment.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
  • This position requires the employee to operate, maintain, and receipt for various weapons systems used within training.
  • This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program.
  • Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, "Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified as Critical Under the Drug Abuse Testing Program" or a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
  • A Secret Security Clearance is required for this position.

OR Completion of a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or Forensics Science.
