About the Position: The position serves as the Administrative Officer (S1) for one of five Brigades under Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC). As the Brigade S1, the incumbent is responsible for administrative oversight of functions which include military/civilian personnel, manpower, budget, records management, training, reports control, publications, and travel.
Duties
Perform procedural, administrative, analytical and advisory assignments relating to the organization?s manpower program.
Review, analyze, and evaluate requirements and manpower authorizations used to perform the organization?s mission.
Prepare, interpret, and analyze data for reporting to higher headquarters.
Coordinate military and civilian personnel staffing requirements within the command.
Prepare written justification for manpower increases.
Interpret and apply personnel management policies and procedures.
Monitor and oversee the administrative review of civilian and military performance ratings and award submissions.
Coordinate and oversee the organization?s annual award budget.
Responsible for overall management of the organization?s Defense Travel program.
Directly responsible for the provision of all organizational key reports to higher headquarters.
Supervise personnel assigned to the Administration Division.
Perform short and long-range planning, making work assignments and adjustments as necessary to accomplish the mission of the office.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- This position may require some TDY travel ? approximately 20%.
- This position is designated as emergency-essential (E-E). During a crisis situation, the incumbent, or designated alternate, may be required to deploy or to perform temporary duty assignments overseas in support of military operations.
- Physical examinations are required initially and annually to ensure employee meets physical requirements of an EE position.
- The incumbent may be required to serve a one year term trial period.
- The incumbent may be required to serve a one year supervisor probationary period.
- This is a Term position NOT TO EXCEED (NTE) three years and may be extended up to a total of six years.
- This is an obligated position.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing administrative oversight of organizational functions which include: personnel management, manpower, budget, records management, training, publications, and travel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11 or above).
