This position is part of the Defense Media Activity. The incumbent will be responsible for performing IT Customer Support duties to support the students, staff and faculty of DINFOS including receiving and documenting trouble tickets and updating in the ticketing system.
Duties
As a IT Specialist (CUSTSPT) at the GS-2210-7/9 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Provides customer support services for IT equipment, software, systems, interfaces, and networks that support the students, staff, and faculty of the Defense Information School.
Performs routine Records Management Custodian duties as prescribed by National Archives Records Administration (NARA).
Manages 508 accessibility testing and compliance reporting for the organization
Assists in solving customer related technical software and hardware problems.
Initiates, receives, analyzes, coordinates, and incorporates recommended modifications to the solicitation package to ensure technical accuracy.
Develops and maintains file plans and ensures proper disposition of various file types.

- This position must complete the Federal Records Management Training Program through
NARA supporting the development of records and information management professionals to be
non-competitively promoted to the FPL pending time-in-grade requirements.
Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-07, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service:
Providing customer support services for IT equipment, software, systems, interfaces, and networks in an academic environment.
Receiving and documenting trouble tickets and updating in the ticketing system.
Assisting organizational records manager by building file plans and ensuring proper disposition of file types as prescribed by the National Archives Records Administration (NARA).
Reviewing IT requirements and troubleshooting low-level IT problems.
Assisting with the planning and solicitation of technology acquisitions and managing computer assets with supervision.
OR
Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
Superior Academic Achievement: Successful completion of all the requirements for a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled, such as that identified in Education above.
You may qualify at the GS-09, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service:
Developing and maintaining directorate-level file plans and ensuring proper disposition of file types as prescribed by the National Archives Records Administration (NARA).
Planning and solicitation of technology acquisitions and managing computer assets and updating asset management systems.
Providing data for service desk and asset management reports to technical and school leadership team on trends, historical data regarding life cycle of assets, and other required information,
Managing the school's 508 compliance trusted tester program and reporting to the 508 officers on program compliance and issues.
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
In addition to meeting qualifications, your application package must reflect the applicable experience to meet the Individual Occupational Requirements for the 2210 series.
Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

Experience
Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate
GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent): For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

Specialized Experience for GS-7 (or equivalent) and Above: Positions at GS-7 (or equivalent) and above require one year of specialized experience at the next lower GS-grade (or equivalent). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. The employing agency is responsible for defining the specialized experience based on the requirements of the position being filled.
