This position will be a important part of the VA Puget Sound Health Care Systems. We are the largest facility in the VA's Northwest Veterans Integrated Service Network. We consist of 421 beds across 2 campuses, 7 CBOC's and a mobile medical Unit. This position is located in the VA Puget Sound Health Care System. The Consolidated Scheduling and Billing (CBS) manager is responsible for 2 sections that support VISN 20.
Duties
Program Operations;
Serves as the Section Manager of the consolidated Scheduling and Billing Section.
Communicates and Coordinates with VISN 20 office and facility mangers.
Makes decisions regarding change in collaboration with Office and Directors.
Analyzes program trends and forecast anticipated changes in cost.
Prepare and submits reports.
Develop a monitoring system that will entail the use of systemic reviews.
Supervisory Duties;
Provide administrative and technical supervision
Establish guidelines and performance expectations for staff.
Observes performance, conduct and provides critique when needed.
Develop improvement plans and recommend personnel actions.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 0800 to 1630

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/10/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education s described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge of VA medical benefit entitlements, clinic structure and functions. Ability to evaluate & modify organizational structure & systems. Ability to develop a monitoring system. Knowledge of administrative laws, policies, regulations and enrollment. Experience supervising subordinate employees; establish guidelines and performance expectations for staff, and ensuring daily staffing coverage. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level, you must have successfully completed a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited university or college. OR, 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, OR LL. B or J.D, if related in a course of study that directly reflects the job-related knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary to satisfy the minimum qualifications and perform the duties of the position. Physical Requirements: Work is a mixture of an office environment and a large clerical/administrative office complex. The space is environmentally controlled with some prolonged walking due to the layout of the facility and the dispersion of the staff being supervised. Some prolonged standing may be required in clinics. The work does not required heavy lifting or physical demands any different from a typical office setting.
