About the Position: This is a Support Services Specialist, GS-0342-05/06/07 position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for the Operations Division for the following location: Cherryvale, Kansas, This position may be filled at the GS-05, GS-06, or GS-07 grade level. If filled below the full performance level, promotion potential is to the GS-07. The full performance level of this position is GS-07. Promotion is at the discretion of management.
Duties
Monitor obligations and expenditures throughout the execution phase of the operating budgets.
Analyze each cost item (labor / training/ travel/ equipment/ pay estimates for contractors / supplies/ Visa purchase, etc.) to determine proper sequence required for that action.
Coordinate the administrative work of other clerical personnel that may be geographically disbursed, and provides guidance, direction and leadership to ensure all project administrative priorities are met.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience at the GS-05 Grade Level: Three years of progressively responsible general work experience with one year of that experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level, which includes Experience in an office setting 1) consolidating data for reports or budgets OR 2) maintaining office files and ordering supplies.
OR
Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 36. Then divide your total number of completed undergraduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 120. Add the two percentages. Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree.
Specialized Experience at the GS-06 Grade Level: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 grade level performing the following duties: 1) managing fund or expenditure request in an automated system; AND 2) purchasing supplies or services for an organization; AND 3) composing administrative correspondence or reports for an office staff. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05)
Specialized Experience at the GS-07 Grade Level: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level performing at least 2 out of 3 of the following duties: 1) tracking budget allocations or expenditures for an organizational budget and 2) managing organizational staff timekeeping in an automated system AND 3) tracking contracted services for completion prior to payment.

One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
