About the position: This is a NAF (Non-Appropriated Fund) position assigned to the 49th Force Support Squadron at the Holloman Air Force Base Domenici Fitness and Sports Center
Incumbent will work anywhere from 0-40 hour per week.
Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to observe swimming area to ensure safety of patrons.
Observes swimming area to ensure it is open and closed on time, safety standards are met, appropriate attire is worn and only authorized persons are using the indoor pool.
Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed.
Ensure that Aquatic equipment is inspected frequently for damage or serviceability, and report conditions to supervisor.
Must maintain current knowledge and answers questions of fitness center procedures, policies, directives, and obtains needed information or decisions from supervisor on issues that arise.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
For pool and aquatic center lifeguards: Must have an approved and current nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training, and CPR (both child and adult) training, or obtain certification within 30 days of employment.
Must have experience which provides a practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules and procedures.
Skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
