This position serves as an Emergency Management Specialist (Building Code Specialist) in FEMA's Region 5 office. The ideal candidate for this position has experience reviewing and interpreting ordinances or with involvement in the construction process, is able to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders, and communicate complex concepts effectively.

Qualifications

All qualifications and eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. To qualify for this position at the IC-09 level (starting salary $63,633), you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IC-07 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the Federal or Private Sector and must demonstrate all of the following:  Reviewing and interpreting ordinances or involvement in the construction process, such as plan review, permit review, inspection, enforcement Collaborating with a variety of stakeholders regarding policy Communicating complex concepts ORMaster's or equivalent graduate degree or  2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. or  LL.B. or J.D. ORCombination of education and experience  To qualify for this position at the IC-11 level (starting salary $76,990), you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IC-09 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the Federal or Private Sector and must demonstrate all of the following:  Reviewing and interpreting ordinances Applying principles and practices concerning construction processes, codes, and policy Collaborating and presenting complex concepts to a variety of stakeholders OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or  3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. or  LL.M.
