About the Position: The Cook position is in the Nutrition Care Division at Evans Army Community Hospital located on Fort Carson. Performs a variety of food service duties assigned in the Production and Service Branch.
Duties
Prepare limited breakfast foods that will involve grilling or frying.
Perform regular and modified salad preparation tasks such as making fruit and vegetable salads; cutting, scraping, chopping, dicing, and peeling fruits and vegetables.
Set up and replenishing the salad bar in accordance to established procedures.
Perform ingredient measurement tasks.
Weigh vegetables and fruits in accordance with instructions and directions provided.
Perform patient tray service duties to include the assembly of patient trays.
Replenish food to service counters, steam tables, and side service stands with hot and cold foods.
Arrange food items for regular and modified diets.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the selectee to pass a pre-employment physical.
- This position is inclement weather essential. This means that you must be willing to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
- This position requires the incumbent to wear a uniform.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement.
- This position may require periodic immunizations (other than the influenza vaccine) and tuberculosis monitoring.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Cook ~ without more than normal supervision. Such work includes a demonstrated experience performing regular and modified salad preparation tasks; preparing service stands; collecting and removing used dishes and utensils to dishwashing area; preparing sandwich items for the short order line. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

The work involves light to moderate physical effort with frequent lifting and moving of objects weighing up to 30 pounds. There is constant standing and walking, bending and stooping, and occasional lifting up to 45 pounds.
Working areas are often uncomfortably warm and noisy. Incumbent is exposed to minor cuts, burns, bruises, and scalds. There is danger of slipping on floors which are wet from mopping and spilled liquids. Incumbent may be exposed to extreme temperatures of heat and cold from the hot kitchen to the refrigerated areas.
