About the Position: This position is responsible for the daily operation of installation and Chemical Limited Area access control duties in the Identification and Registration (I&R) Office at the Pueblo Chemical Depot in Pueblo, CO. TERM Appointment: This position is a TERM Not to Exceed 2 years position. It is time-limited and may be extended up to a maximum of eight years.

Duties

Independently in the I and R Office, controlling installation access, operating and performing research queries on the National Crime Information Center (NCIC/NCCIC) workstation terminal(s) in accordance with (IAW) federal and state laws. Screens all employees, visitors, consultants, and contractor personnel to determine status of an individual and reason for and location of visit. Reviews reports of criminal history to identify the presence or absence of derogatory information, reviewing the impact of various kinds of derogatory information when recommending the granting,or denying of visitors on the installation. Issues Chemical Surety Badges, which includes photographing, biometrics registration and laminating. Maintains a variety of files, control registers, and records to provide control of sensitive information. Posts information from registers to cross-reference files.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: 1) utilizing a personal computer to produce a variety of documents in different formats and to revise/update personnel security databases; 2) applying personnel security directives, regulations, precedents, guidelines and procedures to complete clearance paperwork; 3) gather personnel security information to verify suitability of incoming personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
