The psychology technician is assigned to the Primary Care Mental Health Integration Team (PCMHI). The incumbent reports clinically and administratively to the assigned supervisory psychologist. The incumbent possesses the necessary behavioral science training, education, and background to actively participate in meaningful PCMHI activities. Increased responsibilities will include administering standardized tools, responding to consults to the service, and developing and refining summary reports.
Duties
Duties include but not limited to:
The incumbent will complete routine structured diagnostic and clinical intake assessments for patients.
The incumbent will administer clinical assessments/basic interviews and batteries of standard psychological tests and questionnaires to patients.
The incumbent mat monitor and maintain program consults by receiving, scheduling, and completing with appropriate.
Manage the Behavioral Health Lab (BHL) Software, including adding new clinics, clinicians, and users.
Develops a working knowledge of the production end of the BHL software program.
The incumbent prepares timely summaries of collected data in software program (BHL), PCMH related VISTA consults, and new case finders on weekly basis and provides these to the direct supervisors.
Review assessments and reports completed by others on the team for errors and change accordingly in database.
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/15/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-05 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-04. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: 1) Use the Behavioral Health Lab (BHL) Software to manage referrals, document outreach attempts, and complete structured assessments as indicated. 2) Prepare timely summaries of collected data in software program (BHL), PCMH related consults, and new case finders on routine basis and provides these to the direct supervisors. 3) Responsible for completion of structured diagnostic and clinical assessment for Veterans referred to behavioral health services.4) Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology, diagnostic categories, and chart reviews. 5) Ability to recognize problems and problem area, and take immediate remedial action. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this GS-05 grade level you must have 4-year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with courses related to the occupation. OR For GS-06, graduate education or an internship directly related to the work of the position. For GS-07, one full year of graduation education. OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond post-high school education and experience are also qualifying. If education is used to meet specialized experience requirements, then such education must include courses directly related to the work of the position.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: Work is mostly sedentary and many frequently involve numerous hours working at a computer work station and on the telephone conducting interviews and providing follow-up care. Some flexibility in work hours is required including early evening/morning appointments and possible Saturday hours as clinical care expands to meet these demands.
