The primary purpose of this position is to plan, implement, administer, and counsel units and their leadership on individual, family, and community issues including but not limited to career assistance, transition, relocation, family, and other work/life service and (cont. below in duties)

Duties

(cont. from summary) activities provided to military members, retirees, Department of Defense civilian members, and their families. Additionally, will rotate periodically into wartime and contingency operations to provide the same types of services with the focus on pertinent situational issues; may also serve in emergency and/or natural and man-made disasters. Assesses needs and provides continuing work/life services to leadership, organizations, and serviced populations within assigned units and in the M&FRC. Develops, implements, and manages installation work/life services programs, establishing goals, objectives, and procedures in accordance with applicable state, Air Force, and other federal guidance, regulations, and laws. Consults with on- and off-site community leadership officials on work/life and related issues. Influences key organizational staff and organized groups within/outside the installation. Designs and establishes marketing and public relations strategies to ensure target populations are informed of services and activities. Participates in wartime and contingency operations; deploys to contingency locations on a rotational basis.

  • The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. A valid driver?s license is required for the position
  • Position will include training in the carrying and use of firearms because incumbent can be deployed to contingency locations and participate in wartime and contingency operations where and when there may be a requirement to carry firearms.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use
  • Mobility is a condition of employment. The employee must sign an Air Force-wide mobility agreement. Mobility augmentee duties must be available to support mobility or readiness center (RC) operations in an exercise or contingency situation. (cont.)

  • All E-E employees must perform E-E duties during a crisis or after noncombatants evacuate. Failing to perform assigned E-E duties may result in disciplinary action against the incumbent up to and including removal from federal service

Qualifications

Continued from Conditions of Employment The duty of the employee is to provide immediate and continuing support for combat operations or to support maintenance and repair of combat essential systems of the armed forces. Performs duty in a combat zone after the evacuation of nonessential personnel in connection with a war or a national emergency declared by Congress or the President, and it is impracticable to convert the employee's position to a position authorized to be filled by a member of the armed forces because of a necessity for that duty to be performed without interruption. Employee must sign DD Form 2365 as a condition of employment. Employees could be assigned to any location worldwide providing civilian support to combat operations and could deploy to non-combat locations in response to contingencies, disaster relief, or other emergency operations. (IAW: Section 1580 of title 10, United States Code) A pre-employment physical examination is required. Selectee must meet requirements specified on SF 78, Certificate of Medical Examination for employment at overseas/deployed locations due to the following. The duties of this position require moderate physical exertion involving walking and standing, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of finger, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs, and feet must be sufficiently intact and functioning in order that applicants may perform the duties satisfactorily. Near vision, corrective lenses permitted, must be sufficient to read printed material the size of typewritten characters. Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 35 decibels at 1000, 2000, and 3000 HZ levels. Since the duties of these positions are exacting and responsible and involve activities under trying conditions, applicants must possess emotional and mental stability. Any physical condition that would cause the applicant to be a hazard to himself/herself or others is disqualifying. The theater commander may specify theater unique medical/physical deployability criteria. Emergency Essential/deployment related medical/dental/psychological examinations and required immunizations are at no expense to the employees. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, 0101 series. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application. OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. NOTE: Your resume must clearly describe this experience. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: 1) Providing knowledge of social services delivery systems as well as a wide range of concepts, principles, theories, and practices relating to one or more of the social or behavioral science fields. 2) Conducting interviews to establish the nature and extent of concerns/issues, providing assistance in developing goals and plans, and determining appropriate referral services/options when frequently there is difficulty in determining clients' needs or wants or in convincing them to accept that problems exist. 3) Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships using tact and diplomacy in interactions with individuals/families, leadership of organizations, and with program representatives and officials. 4) Assessing and measuring organizations' trends, concerns, and needs; assisting in identifying and prioritizing goals; and providing guidance and direction for the development and implementation of effective plans and tools to address such issues. 5) Communicating effectively orally and in writing. OR EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least three (3) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a major directly related to the position of Violence Prevention Integrator. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of specialized experience and education as described above. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time--in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas Knowledge of social services delivery systems as well as a wide range of concepts, principles, theories, and practices relating to one or more of the social or behavioral science fields. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
