You will serve as a FIREFIGHTER (PARAMEDIC) in the FIRE DEPARTMENT of MARINE CORPS AIR STATION YUMA.
Duties
You will respond to all structure fires, operate hydrants, lay hose lines, perform ladder operations, operates nozzles and other extinguishing equipment to effect fire suppression.
You will perform assigned firefighting tasks at major aircraft hangar structures, ordinance storage facilities/loading areas, multi-story barracks, military family housing, and major above ground fuel facilities.
You will respond to all emergency alarms involving vehicles ammunition, gasoline, electrical hazardous material, and structures.
You will prepare written reviews of capability documents and test documents with focusing on technical aspects of documents, examining for accuracy, completeness and practicality.
You will respond to all medical emergencies and provide advanced patient assessment and treatment for victims of fire, sudden illness, accidental injuries, childbirth, and other events requiring medical intervention.
You will make independent preliminary assessments of patient's condition and select from a variety of prescribed protocols the one which you consider appropriate under the given circumstances.
You will prioritize treatments for patients having multiple problems and employ a variety of established emergency medical/medicine techniques, methods, and equipment to the appropriate medical facility.
You will detect the presence of potentially hazardous materials to maintain containment and control.
You will maintain care of emergency equipment (e.g., backboards, suction devices, splints, stretchers, oxygen delivery systems, monitoring equipment, specialized kits and bags) to ensure safety upon treating patients.

- Must be certified as either a National Registry Paramedic Certification or State of Arizona Paramedic.
- Must be certified as a DoD Firefighter I and Firefighter II.
- Must be certified for HAZARDOUS MATERIAL OPERATIONS by the Department of Defense (DoD), International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or ProBoard.
- Must be certified as a AIRPORT FIREFIGHTER by the Department of Defense (DoD), International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or ProBoard.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialied experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: serving as a firefighter AND paramedic providing structural firefighting, aircraft rescue and firefighting, emergency medical services, hazardous materials/CBRNE response and specialty technical rescues.
