The incumbent is responsible for carrying out policy and applying standards established to ensure preservation, systematic arrangement, accountability, proper storage and accessibility to the large and valuable collection of 18th century domestic, military, archeological and related objects housed in the Park's Museum and historic furnished structures.

Duties

Serves as team leader on museum collections operations and procedures. Identifies and resolves museum records deficiencies to improve collection accountability in accordance with NPS policy. Manages environmental and pest monitoring systems and procedures.

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include the following: include collections management, registration, cataloging, research, preservation, restoration, or conservation of collections of museum material, or other experience related to the position to be filled. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Have completed of at least 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Related fields of study include art, history, museum studies, scientific subjects, or other courses related to the position to be filled. IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE: If you are using education to qualify you must submit a copy of your transcripts. Copies must include your name, school name, credit hours, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. We cannot determine eligibility without this information. You must include transcripts. -OR- COMBINATION: Equivalent Combination of Graduate Education and Specialized Experience: I do not have one full year of specialized experience as described in 3A above or 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree as shown in 3B above, but I have an equivalent combination of such education and experience. For example, I have six months of the specialized experience described above (50% of the experience requirement), and 27 semester hours or 41 quarter hours of directly related graduate level college study in an accredited institution (50% of the qualifying education). You must include transcripts. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
