The incumbent serves as the Local Area Network (LAN) Administrator, providing analytical, technical and administrative support, including independent decision-making for the LAN, ensuring the integrity of the LAN, as well as completion of routine LAN operations.
Duties
Serves as focal point of contact in the ongoing support of various Information Technology (IT) initiatives, hardware, and software.
Receives and provides confidential systems information regarding users to management. Provides management with periodic updates regarding staff access to the mainframe and LAN.
Knowledge of a wide range of analytical and diagnostic methods, procedures and principles in order to analyze, diagnose, troubleshoot and correct problems encountered by systems users.
Serves as systems security officer in a hearings operation entity. Maintains security matrix for various client applications and those associated with end-user?s position profiles supporting mainframe applications.

Qualifications
Applicants must have at least fifty-two (52) weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-8 grade level in the Federal service which is typically in or related to work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Such experience includes (1) installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting hardware and software applications; (2) analyzing and resolving hardware and software related problems; (3) establishing security procedures to monitor network systems capacity and performance; and (4) communicating orally and in writing, including conducting training and preparing reports.
