This position is in the Office of Fellowship Training (OFT), Intramural Research Program (IRP), National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). The NIMH IRP is located on the main campus of the NIH and is housed in six different buildings.
Duties
Assist with public outreach and recruiting activities.
Coordinates educational efforts for NIMH trainee programs to maximize utilization of IRP resources towards enhancement of training activities.
Works with the NIH Office of Intramural Training and Education to create opportunities for the cohort to participate in the NIH Academy activities and program.
Identifies and integrates best practices in training and education for IRP Students, Postbacs, and Postdoctoral fellows.
Analyzes completed projects for their success; works with program specialists and/or scientists as appropriate, to develop viable implementation procedures and coordinates with appropriate staff to make needed changes.
Independently serves as a catalyst for assigned education programs.
Recruits and interviews potential Fellows for NIMH training opportunities by attendance at major regional and national scientific conferences and career events.

Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
In order to qualify for a Science Education Coordinator, GS-0601, position level you must have successfully completed a full 4 year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree or graduate/higher level degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. (This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained).
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
In addition to meeting the basic qualifications, you must demonstrate one year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: developing and implementing training programs for an organization's employees interested in pursuing professional biomedical careers; integrating best practices in training and education for research programs; and providing career guidance to students interested in biomedical careers.
You will receive credit for all experience material to the position, including experience gained in religious, civic, welfare, service, and organizational activities, regardless of whether you received pay.
