About the Position: Serves as Human Resources Specialist within the Troop Command S-1, OTSG/HQ MEDCOM (One-Staff) located at the Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA), Texas.

Duties

Position requires knowledge of numerous rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of military and civilian personnel programs and their application to particular circumstances. Reviews, analyzes and ensures equitable distribution of resources and assignments are compatible with efforts to provide career advancement and professional development opportunities for assigned personnel. Prepares, reviews and submits all personnel actions (recruitments, promotions, reassignments, position reviews, incentive awards) into the automated Defense Civilian Personnel Data System. Monitors and tracks all military and civilian personnel actions, evaluations, awards, and requests for reassignment, release from duty, retirement, separation, etc. Advises and briefs on proposed initiatives, new or revised policies and procedures that impact the command?s personnel and posture program.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing advice and/or information to management on various Human Resources programs (i.e. classification, staffing, recruitment/placement) to ensure actions taken align with organizational goals and requirements; interpreting human resources laws and regulations to provide comprehensive advisory services on staffing functions; conducting special projects or studies to evaluate and resolve operating issues and problems at subordinate installations/activities; and preparing and delivering reports to senior management pertaining to human resources programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementCustomer ServiceOral CommunicationPersonnel and Human Resources Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
