About the Position: The Medical Support Assistant (Office Automation), GS-0679-05 position is located within the Army Medical Center William Beaumont, duty location El Paso Texas.
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Duties
Provide information to keep patients informed of alternate Health care with agency insurance.
Schedule patient appointments to support the outpatient clinic.
Operate office automation tools to ensure accuracy in end of day reports.
Operate office automation tools to cancel and/or reschedule patient appointments.
Communicate appropriately with patients through oral and/ or written communication to answer questions.
Verify patient's eligibility in database for beneficiary information.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires a National Agency Check w/ Inquiries (NACI) background check.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- Immunization screening may be required.
- One- year probationary period may be required.
- This position requires a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccine and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- This position may require periodic immunizations (other than the influenza vaccine) and tuberculosis monitoring.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes performing clerical and/or receptionist duties such as answering telephones, scheduling, rescheduling, cancelling patients for treatment and assembling intake information forms for patient appointments.
Education: Successful completion of a four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.

Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
