The Montana/Dakotas BLM is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as a Field Manager for the North Dakota Field Office located in Dickinson, North Dakota. Information about the Dickinson area can be found at: Dickinson Chamber of Commerce.
We expect to fill one (1) vacancy at this time; however, additional positions may be filled from this announcement if they become available.
Duties
Planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating a broad array of complex resource management programs requiring
intensive multiple-use management and protection of a variety of resources.
Developing, implementing, and managing a program of land and resource programs with priority to energy and minerals;
lands and realty; archeological and cultural resources.
Determining work priorities for the Field Office and directing accomplishment of the approved Annual Work Plan.
Operating field office programs within budgetary limitations and apportionment.
Utilizing staff input for preparing the annual work plan and developing long-range activity work plans.
Ensuring all the concerns and needs of special interest groups and other Federal, State, and local governments are taken
into consideration before acting on activity issues.
Managing the technical and administrative supervision of a large and complex staff including managing work through
subordinate supervisors, team leads, and/or contractors.
Coordinating land and resource planning and management with representatives of other agencies, Federal, State, and
local governments, the general public, and private landholders.

- Supervisory Probationary Period: If you are selected for this position, you will be required to serve a one year supervisory/managerial probationary period if one has not previously been completed.

Those who do not provide evidence they possess the following selective factor will be rated not qualified: A demonstrated ability to plan, implement, and/or administer a natural resource program in a public lands
environment.
For GS-14: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: Experience as a Field Manager, Associate Field Manager, Assistant Field Manager, Natural Resource Supervisor or directly related position where you were a member of a management team responsible for supervising land use professionals. Your experience must demonstrate technical expertise in multiple use and ecosystem management of natural resources in an interagency environment involving Federal, State, and local authorities.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
There is no substitution of education at the GS-14 grade level.
