Duties
This position is the Chief of the Consumer Policy Division (CPD) and is located in the Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau (CGB). The Division is responsible for overseeing the development of consumer policy concerning all Commission-regulated entities, including wireline phone, wireless phone and text, broadband, cable television, and broadcast television companies. Through rulemakings and orders for which it has primary responsibility, and by commenting on rulemakings and order originated by other Bureaus and Offices, the Division ensures that consumer interests are considered in all Commission policy-making activities. Recent notable projects include the Broadband Label, Robocall Blocking, Robotext Blocking, and implementation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

- Males born after 12/31/59 must be registered with Selective Service.

- Current FCC employees must provide SF-50 verifying grade & status
- SF-50 Documenting One Year of Time in Grade Required
- Suitable for employment as determined by a background investigation.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet eligibility and qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Professional law experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
In order to be deemed as "BEST QUALIFIED" candidates must meet both the educational requirements AND the Specialized Experience.
A. Education
You must meet the minimum basic educational requirements for Attorney positions. Education requirements include: a professional law degree JD, LL.B., and/or LL.M.

B. Specialized Experience
GS-15
Applicants must have a minimum of four years of professional law experience, one year of which must demonstrate specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 in the Federal service. For this position, specialized experience includes the following
Experience planning, developing and evaluating the consumer policy functions
Experience addressing changes in communications initiatives and their impact on American consumers and the telecommunications Industry.
Experience keeping abreast of developments affecting the telecommunications industry and consumers by reviewing court and commission decisions.
Experience keeping abreast of legal documents by reviewing court and commission decisions.
Experience directing and overseeing subordinate supervision; developing overall requirements and schedules to accomplish organizational activities.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
