About the Position: The primary purpose of this position is: To prepare regular and special diet bakery goods. The organizational location of this position is: Nutritional Medicine Flight, 60 DTS/SGQD, 60 MDG, 60 AMW, Travis AFB, CA.
Duties
Prepare a full range of bakery products found on regular and special diet menus such as bread, rolls, cakes, cookies, biscuits, pastries, puddings, fillings, icings, puff pastries, batter and sponge cakes using a full variety of ingredients.
Adjust measurements and revises recipes to improve taste, change quantities, adjust for altitude and humidity, or conform to special diet requirements.
Utilize health, safety, and sanitation practices, procedures, rules, and regulations to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Maintain hand and power tools and utensils of the baking trade such as rollers, sifters, grinders, cooking vats, proofing boxes, rotating ovens, mixing machines, roll dividers, rounding and molding machines, pie rollers, and bread slicing machines.
Prepare, cook and serve a wide variety of regular and therapeutic foods. Use a full range of quantity cooking procedures and recipes to properly prepare a full variety of meats, poultry, seafood, vegetables, starches, fruits, and other foods.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
- This position may require the incumbent to work on any day or shift, including PMs, nights, weekends, holidays, or on an "on call" basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.
- Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
- This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Required to use/wear safety shoes and baker's/cook's uniform.
- This position may require rotating shifts (i.e. work schedule that requires employees to continuously rotate from one shift to another at predetermined intervals).
- Required to possess Food Handlers License or meet health-screening requirements.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Baker ~ without more than normal supervision. preparing a range of bakery products found on menus; decorating bakery products; cutting products into portions; adjusting measurements; utilizing health, safety, practices to maintain a clean work environment; using tools of the baking trade such as rollers, sifters, grinders, cooking vats, etc; and preparing, cooking and serving a wide variety of foods. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Grade 8 bakery workers frequently lift and move items weighing 23 kilograms (50 pounds) or more. The work requires continuous bending, stooping, standing or walking.
Working Conditions: Grade 8 bakery workers frequently work in disagreeable heat. Concrete and tile floors are tiring to walk on and freshly scrubbed floors offer the danger of slipping. Burns from ovens and hot pans are a hazard. Injuries may result from use of powered equipment. Bakery workers are exposed to extremes in temperatures when entering walk-in refrigerators from warm kitchens and proofing rooms.
