About the Position: This position is with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, located in Grand Haven, MI.
Duties
Serve as assistant to the Facility Manager, providing project support via the employment of the USACE Facilities Equipment Maintenance (FEM) program.
Serves as the focal point and liaison between the facility and the district office regarding financial, personnel, supply, and other administrative transactions.
Coordinate travel arrangements with appropriate district elements and resolves discrepancies.
Assist Facility Manager with property accountability activities for project inventory of expendable and non-expendable property.
Serve as credit card holder, comply with Fiscal Law and appropriate regulations.
Serve as Timekeeper for the office.
Assist management with research and preparation of budget submissions.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must possess a valid state driver's license at time of appointment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. GS-05 General Experience: one-year general experience of which includes 1) Maintaining construction and maintenance information in automated management maintenance systems; (2) assisting with inventory and property records. (3) assisting project staff in the resolving of a variety of administrative problems. This definition of general experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
GS-06 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service which includes entering and reviewing data for accuracy; providing administrative assistance in areas assigned, which includes maintenance records, financial records, operation logs, and property records, and is proficient in common software programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education: successfully completed a half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as business, secretarial.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
GS-07 Specialized Experience: one-year specialized experience of which includes entering and reviewing data for accuracy and providing recommendations based on regulations and policies; Provide administrative assistance in areas assigned, which includes maintenance records, financial records, operation logs, personnel management and property records, and is proficient in common software programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: I have successfully completed one full academic year of graduate-level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as, accounting, business administration, or finance. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Superior Academic Achievement: I have successfully completed all the requirements for a bachelor's degree and am claiming Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled, Superior Academic Achievement is based on: (1) Class Standing - You must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; OR (2) Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.) - You must have a grade-point average of either (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.; OR (3) Honor Society Membership - You may be considered eligible based on membership in one of the approved national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies (https://www.achsnatl.org/).
