This position serves as an advance technician for outpatient care settings such as; primary care, mental health, and specialty clinics. As an ICT Generalist the incumbent may serve in a medical center, community-based outpatient clinic (cboc), mobile medical unit or may have virtual/remote assignments.
Duties
Duties to include but not limited to:
Assisting licensed personnel with the delivery of care to patients with complex and specialized care needs.
Performing wound care (i.e. bandaging, application of dressings, wound measurements and Photo-documentation of wounds).
Performing medication administration: intramuscular, oral, topical, etc.
Assisting licensed staff with preparing patients for medical evaluation, setting up equipment, passing instruments and providing treatment.
Collecting specimens and preparing them for transfer.
Providing patient education within scope of care or while providing an intervention. (Examples: post-procedural care and wound care).
Conducting or assisting with the training of personnel if appropriately trained, certified and/or qualified.
Performing observation-based screening and collection of patient information in collaboration with licensed personnel.
Performing Vital Signs and Point of Care Testing (Blood Glucose and iSTAT).
Thoroughly and appropriately documenting actions, interventions, and procedures in the medical record.
Performing Basic Life Support (BLS).
Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday 08:00am to 16:30pm

Physical Requirements: On a regular and recurring basis, employee is exposed to infection, exposure to communicable diseases and contagious diseases. The incumbent's assignment requires him/her to comply with special safety and health precautions by wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) according to universal precautions.

Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-07 grade - Specialized Experience: Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled.
In addition to needing to meet the IOR you also must meet the following:
Specialized Experience for GS-07 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Assisting licensed staff with preparing patients for medical evaluation, setting up equipment, passing instruments and providing treatment. Collecting specimens and preparing them for transfer. Providing patient education within scope of care or while providing an intervention. (Examples: post-procedural care and wound care). There is no educational substitution for the GS-07 level.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
