You will serve as a Human Resource Assistant (Military/OA) in the Personnel Department (N1) at Navy Operational Support Centers in Marietta, Georgia.

Duties

You will enter and maintain data in personnel records. You will respond to customer questions regarding personnel records. You will review employee records for completeness and accuracy. You will maintain documents (e.g., publications, directives, recurring reports, tickler files, correspondence, filing systems) related to human resources functions. You will review personnel actions (e.g., promotions, step increases, incentive awards, demotions, separations, transfers, retirements, conversions) in payroll systems to verify proper coding. You will correct pay accounts according to regulations. You will perform clerical support (e.g., typing, filing, data entry) for a human resources office. You will research pay discrepancies to determine appropriate resolution

Requirements

  • Must be able to self-certify and type 40 words per minute.
  • The incumbent must be capable of computer work including various job specific programs and Microsoft Office.
  • Work requires the employee to successfully complete a two-week Reserve Personnel and Pay Management course within six months of employment.
  • Drill weekend work is required.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-6 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience performing the following duties: Processing, tracking, and reporting gains and losses; Experience reviewing records and other documentation to ensure that they are procedurally correct, complete, and adheres to the organizations policy and regulations; Experience with correspondence procedures, style, format, grammar, spelling and punctuation. Experience using various job specific programs and Microsoft office, Excel, and generate required reports. Experience providing positive customer service for walk-in, phone, and email customers.
