Duties

This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, District Field Operations, for Houma, LA; Angleton, TX. BSEE has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval. At the full performance level (GS-5) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: 1. Receives, reads, and controls all incoming correspondence, reports, instructions, etc., and screens out those items which can be personally handled or forwarded to other staff. 2. Maintains proper time and attendance records and documentation. 3. Receives telephone calls, visitors, and messages and provides general information. 4. Operates office automation equipment in order to produce a variety of materials. 5. Makes all necessary arrangements for travel and training, making lodging and transportation reservations, and submitting travel vouchers and reports. 6. Responsible for maintaining working and reference project files in the functional filing system. 7. Prepares the Monthly Vehicle Report and complies associated reports and documentation to be sent to General Services in the Regional Office. This position is included in a bargaining unit. The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), Local 3457, is the exclusive representative of all employees in this bargaining unit. Salary Information Houma, LA GS-05: $37,696 - $49,009 per annum Angleton, TX GS-05: $43,510 - $56,569 per annum First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level. Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position you must meet the Specialized Experience for the series/grade to which you are applying. To qualify for the GS-05, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1. preparing correspondence, memoranda, and/or documents for review; AND 2. managing, filing, and/or routing documents; AND 3. maintaining time and attendance records, training and/or travel requests.
