The primary purpose of this position is to carry out mobility-related duties and assist the squadron commander on mobility matters; ensure squadron personnel are prepared to meet rapid deployment requirements; Performs technical work in direct support of the squadron's budget; Manages security programs; Provides general clerical administrative support to the squadron.
Duties
Incumbent is designated as the 6th Airlift Squadron Unit Deployment Manager (UDM).
Serves as the Squadron Resource Advisor (RA).
Serves as the unit security manager.
Serves as the primary unit program account manager.
Upon notification/ activation is responsible for working in the Unit Combat Readiness Work Center during exercises/ contingencies to perform Unit Deployment Manager duties.

- May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
- The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license may be required for the position.
- Typing and computer operation is performed, however, a qualified typist is not required.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-6, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes assisting the squadron commander on mobility matters and ensuring that the squadron personnel are prepared to meet rapid deployment requirements.; To perform technical work in direct support of the squadron's budget; to manage security programs; and to provide general and clerical administrative support to the squadrons.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-6 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-7 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of the full range of operations as related to deployment and mobility; knowledge of wartime contingency plans; and knowledge of instructions, regulations, directives and local operating procedures as they relate to deployment of personnel and equipment.
2. Knowledge of handling classified and/ or protected documents. Skill and familiarity with using various types of automated data management systems.
3. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
4. Knowledge of the application of procedures, methods and techniques which support the analysis and administration of the budget; and of a range of sources, types and methods of funding; knowledge of common budgetary methods, practices, policies, procedures, regulations and precedents; and the accounting system and related documents used to gather and analyze budgetary information.
5. Knowledge of common and specialized security methods, rules, regulations and principles to provide technical work and assist security specialist in security administration and perform a wide variety of interrelated or nonstandard security assignments and resolve problems.
6. Ability to plan and organize work, follow instructions and accomplish multiple ongoing projects and ability to locate, assemble and compose information for reports, inquiries and limited technical correspondence.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
