Basic Requirements:Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- engineering, industrial arts, property management, or business administration. OR Specialized Experience: Examples of specialized experience includes: Managing a maintenance program for office or apartment building complexes, hospitals, recreation facilities, military, or other special-purpose installations, including planning maintenance activities, and developing preventive maintenance programs. Conducting surveillance activities over construction and maintenance operations performed by a variety of private contractors, including reviewing project plans and specifications for workability, informing contractors of construction and reporting requirements, and supervising operations for conformance with project plans. Performing maintenance or construction work, including estimating material and labor costs for a variety of construction or maintenance projects (such as construction or maintenance of brick, frame, structural steel, reinforced concrete, and other type structures ranging from one- or two-story buildings to larger structures), directing actual work operations, and maintaining appropriate contacts with the organization funding the project. IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE BASIC REQUIREMENT, YOU MUST ALSO MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess one-year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Maintaining and repairing a variety of facility systems, components, and structures, providing technical support on preventive maintenance measures for building systems, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and control systems; Monitoring the repair of low-voltage, and line voltage electric systems, door hardware, fire and life safety protection equipment/systems, sprinkler systems, and related hardware and software; Installing, maintaining, repairing, and adjusting all types of locks and their components for the building, rooms, and vehicles; AND Conducting detailed inspections of buildings, additions, and alternations of existing buildings to determine structural deficiencies, proper use, and compliance with public law, federal and state regulations. OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.OR3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related OR Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of successfully completed post- high school education at the graduate level. Only graduate level education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be combined with experience. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess one (1) of the following specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level performing duties such as: Monitor the preventive maintenance programs to ensure life expectancy of operational facilities. Ensure performance of preventive maintenance on building systems, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and control systems and related components. Repair building plumbing, low-voltage, and line voltage electric systems, door hardware, fire and life safety protection equipment/systems, sprinkler systems, seniors and related hardware and software. Perform inspections of new or altered facilities to ensure compliance with the Occupational, Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and contract specifications. Qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Qualification claims will be subject to verification. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
