ORGANIZATIONAL LOCATION: Department of Health & Health Human Services (HHS), Indian Health Service (IHS), Southwest Region, Phoenix Area -Professional Services Division- Radiology Department, CRSU, Position is located in Parker, AZ . Position is supervised by the Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist . Primary purpose of position is to perform highly complex radiologic examinations through the use of Computerized Tomography (CT) & Radiologic equipment in support of patient care.
Duties
Major Duties:
Independently performs a full range of advanced CT exams which involve special and complicated procedures on critically ill and injured patients.
Receives patients and explains examinations to be performed and methods and assures that patients are properly attired and prepared for requested examination.
May periodically be called upon as a support resource for Medical Imaging staff, radiologists and other medical officers to produce radiographic studies used to diagnose medical conditions.
Manages and operates a local area and extended data communications network including installation and testing of Image Archive and PACS, and DR hardware, multiple modality connections, components, cable, and software.
Completes routine and urgent radiographic exams utilizing fixed and portable digital radiographic equipment as a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist.

You must meet one of the Individual Occupational Requirement for this position to be considered qualified. Successful completion of an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in 42 CFR Part 75 (Standards for the Accreditation of Educational Programs for and the Credentialing of Radiologic Personnel) and is accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education AND certified as a radiographer as evidenced by an active State or national license which is in good standing. OR
Employed by the Federal Government in a Radiologic position prior to January 13, 1986 and show evidence of current or fully satisfactory performance or certification of such from a licensed practitioner such as a doctor of medicine, osteopathy, dentistry, podiatry, or chiropractic who prescribes radiologic procedures to others. OR
Have been employed by the Federal Government in a Radiologic position after January 13, 1986 and have (a) received training from institutions in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not accredit training in that particular field at the time of graduation, or (b) practiced in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not license that particular field or did not allow special eligibility to take a licensure examination for those who did not graduate from an accredited educational program, provided that such persons show evidence of training, experience, and competence.
In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- GS-0647-09:
One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Complete routine and urgent radiographic exams utilizing fixed and portable digital radiographic equipment; advise medical Imaging staff, radiologists and referring physicians regarding patients and imaging examinations; perform a full range of advanced CT exams on critically ill and injured patients. Prepares quality control and hard copy diagnostic quality images from clinical data. AND/OR
Completed two full years (36 semester hours) of graduate level education directly related to the work of the position. AND/OR
Completed a master's or equivalent degree in a field that is directly related to the work of the position. AND/OR
Possess a combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-09 grade level.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- GS-0647-10:
One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Independently performs a full range of advanced CT exams; advises medical Imaging staff, radiologists and referring physicians regarding patients and imaging examinations; completes routine and urgent radiographic exams; manages and operates a local area and extended data communications network including installation and testing of Image Archive and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) Functions , CR and DR hardware, multiple modality connections, components, cable, and software.
Selective Placement Factor: Registered and certified with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in both Radiography (R) and Computerized Tomography (CT). (Please provide a copy with your application).
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
