You will serve as Paralegal Specialist within RLSO SOUTHWEST SAN DIEGO CA.
Duties
You will analyze and evaluate matters arising from various legislative acts, including but not limited to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Privacy Act (PA), Federal Tort Claims Act, Military Claims Act, and Personnel Claims Act.
You will conduct research and prepare responses to inquiries involving Department of Defense (DOD), Department of the Navy (DON), and JAG Ethics Regulations.
You will assist attorneys in training assigned military and civilian support staff in local law, court procedures, legal research, documentation preparation, case management and office procedures.
You will deliver presentations/training regarding legal or administrative procedures to appropriate audiences.
You will receive, examine, and recommend action, concerning incidents governed by the JAG Manual, including but not limited to, accidents, explosions, personal injury, homicide, suicide, theft or damage to U.S Government property.
You will assist with legal processes related to Naval installation security, including base debarment and suspension of privileges.
You will receive and process requests for legal processes aboard Naval installations, including service of process, subpoenas, and vehicle repossessions
You will assist attorneys in preparing criminal case files for prosecution in federal magistrate court, including administrative filings, maintaining calendars, reviewing evidence, and drafting motions and other court documents.
Requirements

Qualifications
GS-09:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1.) Drafting and proofreading legal correspondence and written products to ensure correct assembly, format, and grammar; 2.) Maintaining case files and documentation for civil or administrative matters in accordance with various legislative acts (such as the Freedom of Information Act [FOIA] and Privacy Act [PA]); 3.) Maintaining a tracking system for and performing initial review of administrative and criminal investigations; 4.) Reviewing case files and legal reports to determine sufficiency of documentation for legal proceedings, endorsement, and further routing.
GS-07:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1.) Using computer databases to retrieve, organize, or index various materials; 2.) Entering and updating legal information systems to assist with the tracking of case progress; 3) Using office automation equipment and software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) to develop and prepare reports, statistical data, text, and graphics; 4) Preparing discovery responses for attorney review; 5) Drafting court documents for attorney review.

Education
Education Substitution for Experience at the GS-09 Level:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
OR
possess a master's or equivalent degree
OR have completed two full years of graduate level education leading to such a degree
OR possess an LL.B. or J.D., if related
OR a combination of education and experience as described above that equates to one year of experience.
