The Pretrial Services Agency is recruiting for a Communication Specialist. In this role, you will be a member of a dynamic organization that provides technical advisory services for the Agency's communication and outreach program. Duties

As a Communications Specialist, you will: 1. Work with the Deputy Assistant Director of the Office of Communications and Community Outreach (OCCO) and other PSA senior leaders to design and implement effective communication strategies to expand and refresh communication products. 2. Assist the Deputy Assistant Director of the OCCO in carrying out the Agency's internal and external communications strategies, including, but not limited to, drafting internal newsletters, crafting briefing documents for internal and external events, creating digital signage, and supporting the production of internal and external educational materials (e.g., brochures, videos). 3. Identify communication needs and develop informational materials that inform staff of the Agency's policies, programs, services, and activities. 4. Execute and use analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of information and communication programs in furthering Agency strategic goals. 5. Leverage data-driven best practices in organizational communications to conduct routine quality assurance assessments of external and internal website performance and content. 6. Write and edit appropriate internet and intranet materials for spelling/grammar, readability, continuity, and consistency with Agency policy and messaging; and develop guidance on best practices for PSA written materials. 7. Work collaboratively with PSA's Office of Information Technology to develop and implement a roadmap to overhaul, update and provide on-going maintenance and content for the Agency's external website (PSA.gov). 8. Coordinate pretrial services administration technical assistance meetings and visits with external entities. 9. Work with PSA senior leadership to design, implement, and manage social media strategies and campaigns to convey and highlight PSA's mission and accomplishments, including developing, posting, monitoring, and managing content. 10. Coordinate PSA's participation in external community-based activities and forums (e.g., Metropolitan Police Department's Beat the Streets, United States Attorney's Office Youth Summit, National Night Out) and identify new opportunities for PSA participation with justice partner initiatives; work with DC Council constituent services representatives to explore interest and opportunities for presenting about PSA.

Requirements

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-13 level, you must have 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience related to the duties of the position, comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as experience developing and implementing communication strategies and products for an organization; writing and editing documents, reports, presentations, and other written communication materials; experience writing for and using the Internet, social media, and web pages to communicate information to the public, media, and internal audience; experience coordinating technical visits and outreach activities. NOTE: Your resume must clearly show the specialized experience related to this position. Failure to demonstrate how you possess the experience requirements will result in an "Ineligible" rating.
