The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory civilian and active duty employees assigned to Special Tactics Training Squadron Advanced Training Skills Operational Readiness Training.
Duties
Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Operational Readiness Training (ORT) Phase of Advanced Training Skills, ensuring that Operational Readiness Training complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
Represents the Operational Readiness Training (ORT) phase with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
Accomplishes special projects/additional duties.
Conducts Operational Readiness Training (ORT) classes and/or briefings.

- Work requires travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft in accordance with DOD joint travel regulations. Subject to irregular duty hours, dictated by course training requirements

- (cont)present military and informational briefings to senior leaders/managers both internal and external to the Air Force as requested concerning the ST program
- Experience as a qualified DoD, Air Force, Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC), Combat Control Operator, Para-rescue Operator, Special Tactics Officer or comparable, is desired
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a FAA Class II Flight Physical and Secret Security clearance

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, GS-1712 series.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: Conduct instructor supervisor duties. Advise and provide counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management. Use lesson plans, training aids and other multi-media resources to perform platform instructor duties. Plan, manage, and participate in field exercises. Complete assigned special projects/additional duties IAW associated leadership, DOD, unit and HHQ directives. Establish, develop, and maintain working relationships with Formal Training Core Tasks Training, and Employment Readiness Training. Identify employee developmental needs and provide or arrange for training (formal and on-the-job). Establish policies and procedures of military demolitions training, heavy/light weapons training, small unit tactics, tactical vehicular convoy, Special Reconnaissance and airfield seizure operations of (FMP) training of air and ground assets. Plan and schedule work to coordinate, plan and schedule with other organization managers and customers as appropriate.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures, including ability to assess, evaluate and apply safety and Operation Risk Management (ORM) mitigation processes to inherit high-risk activities conducted in multi-tasking environments.
2. Ability to plan, organize, direct and supervise the work of a subordinate staff.
3. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
4. Knowledge of and skill in the application of individual, tactical and communication equipment employed by ST personnel.
5. Knowledge of, skills and ability to conduct and perform training IAW AFI 13-217, AFI 13-219, USSOCOM 350 series manuals and Air Traffic Control (ATC) training requirements to include ATC tactics, techniques and procedures.
6. Knowledge of ST tactics, techniques, procedures, operational activities, operational and tactical structure and organization.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
