Duties
Determine from insurance policy benefits if denied claims should be written off.
Utilize integrated financial management to extract data.
Advises patient?s regarding the Third Party Collection Program.
Requirements
- This position is covered by Health Affairs Policy 97006, 23 Oct. 96, which requires the employee to obtain Hepatitis B Immunization unless exempted by a physician.
- This position may require business travel up to 5% of the time.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain the required National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation.
- This position may require the employee to work various hours, including nights and weekends.
- This position may require the employee to work overtime.
- This is a Financial Management Level 1 Certification position. Failure to obtain this certification within two (2) years of employment and maintain the certification may subject the incumbent to adverse action.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes using various automated systems to analyze and verify coded information to properly bill health insurance carriers; maintaining documentation of all actions taken to facilitate future audits of insurance billing and insurance bills paid; reviewing medical bills for accuracy based on coding information, procedures and guidelines of the insurance industry; and advising patient's regarding the Third Party Collection Program. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower/grade position in the federal service (GS-05).
