These positions are located in a USDA, Rural Development Office and serves in a developmental trainee capacity. The incumbent will receive extensive on-the-job training in a variety of routine tasks that will provide experience and technical competence in the methods, procedures, principles, theories and techniques utilized in the performance of various administrative or program functions. Two vacancies will be filled from this announcement. These are NOT remote positions.

Duties

Receives training on and uses software and information systems to perform work assignments. Assisting others in performing a variety of routine tasks to gain experience and technical competence in the methods, procedures, principles, theories, and techniques utilized in administering RD loan and grant programs. Providing information to the public; initiating and preparing correspondence; maintaining records, reports and files. Assisting in application processing and servicing for Single Family (SFH) loans and grants, and/or Community Program (CP) loans and grants, and/or Business Program (BP) loans and grants.

Requirements

  • You must be a US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt
  • Must be in good academic standing as defined by the educational institution
  • Complete at least 640 hrs of work experience prior to completion of degree
  • Enrolled at least half-time at a qualifying educational institution
  • A signed participant agreement is required for employment under Pathways
  • Satisfactory Background investigation and/or fingerprint check
  • Successful completion of two-year trial period

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. For the GS-03 grade level: Applicants must have completed one (1)full academic year of post-high school study. For the GS-04 grade level: Applicants must have completed two (2) full academic years of post-high school study. NOTE: To be considered for this position, you must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements for the GS-1101 series set forth in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards by the closing date of the announcement. Education

Students who have been accepted for enrollment or who are enrolled at least half-time in an accredited high school, college, professional, technical, vocational, or trade school pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate. Applicant must possess a minimum of one academic year of post high-school study.
