The National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) leads the nation's effort to protect the United States from terrorism by integrating, analyzing and sharing information to drive whole-of-government action and achieve our national CT objectives.
Duties
NCTC's Europe Division (EURD), in NCTC's Directorate of Intelligence is the primary repository of Directorate knowledge and its lead analytic actor on CT issues related to Europe. EURD houses experts on the full set of violent extremist actors operating within the European continent, relevant terrorist travel issues, and CT partner capabilities. EUR enhances counterterrorism strategy, policymaking, and operations as the NCTC and interagency focal point on threats to US and partner interests in Europe, threats to the Homeland originating in Europe, and European counterterrorism efforts, and leads the interagency in fusing foreign and domestic sources of intelligence to provide customers a decisive edge in making critical decisions.
EURD is seeking a motivated analyst at the full performance level to join its collegial, high-performing team to drive Intelligence Community (IC) and policy understanding through sophisticated intelligence analysis. EURD has an expansive mission that requires a rigorous approach to analysis and collaboration across the IC. You will have the opportunity to:
Develop and produce a broad range of finished intelligence products in support of United States (US) foreign policy and national security interests.
Drive the IC's understanding of key CT issues across Europe and Eurasia, by writing tactical and strategic analytic products.
Capitalize on NCTC's unique access to data and tools to perform multi-methods analysis.
Prepare and present written and oral briefings to senior internal and external customers.
Prepare ODNI and NCTC senior leaders to represent the IC's view in policy discussions.
Engage frequently with customers and stakeholders to ensure NCTC's products are timely and relevant.
Continue to build your area of expertise and writing and critical thinking skills through ongoing training.
Qualifications
Mandatory Requirements:
Strong analytic and critical thinking skills, including the ability to think strategically.
Knowledge of written tradecraft and a track record of producing written products that are clear, concise, and well-organized.
Ability to effectively express thoughts verbally and deliver engaging, informative briefings, often under tight deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills, including an ability to collaborate with others to complete tasks.
Ability to remain open-minded and change opinions based on new information and requirements; ability to find creative solutions to tough analytic problems.
Knowledge in area of subject matter expertise.
Knowledge of US policy and national security issues.
Commitment to ODNI values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
At least two years of experience as an all-source analyst at a national intelligence agency, federal or state law enforcement agency, or combatant command, or a minimum of nine credit hours studying counterterrorism-related issues at the graduate level.
Desired Qualifications:
Generally, two or more years of related work experience, preferably in the Europe and Eurasia region.
Bachelor's degree in subject matter area, or closely related discipline.
