This National Guard position is for a ATTORNEY-ADVISER (GENERAL) T32, Position Description Number PDD2665000 and is part of the AZ JFHQ ARMY, National Guard.
Duties
The position is located in the Joint Force Headquarters - State (JFHQ-ST), Office of the Staff Judge Advocate (SJA) in Phoenix, Arizona. The primary purpose of the position is to serve as the full-time professional legal adviser and support to the Adjutant General, the Commander of federally recognized Army and Air National Guards, and state/territory unique public defense or safety structures. Acts as a legal adviser and attorney for the most diverse, complex, difficult, and novel legal issues found in the emerging area of victims' right law and will be responsible for the formulation of S/T/DC legal policy and its execution in the areas of sexual assault accountability, prevention, and response; sexual harassment; and domestic abuse for Army and Air personnel.

Requirements
- NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Air and or Army National Guard, in a military position assigned to JFHQ.
- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- Incumbent must possess and maintain a current state driver?s license.
- Recruitment, Relocation, or Retention Incentive funds are available subject to eligibility.
- Attorney must either be licensed to practice law in Arizona, or obtain an Arizona law license within one year of being employed with the Arizona National Guard.
- DoD SPARX training is recommended but not required and there is not an annual credentialing requirement.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: The first professional law degree (LL.B. or J.D.), active membership in the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia and at least 2 years professional legal experience.
