This position is located in the Branch of Behavioral Health Services, Division of Clinical Services at the Indian Health Service (IHS) Health Center, Wind River Service Unit in Fort Washakie, WY. Incumbent reports to Behavioral Health Director or Designee.
Duties
Apply advanced knowledge of psychopathology and provide professional therapeutic techniques in conducting comprehensive evaluations of patients with a range of mental health issues.
Provide therapeutic services based on comprehensive treatment plans that outline the therapeutic, goals, methods, and modality to meet the individualized treatment needs of each patient.
Provide behavioral/mental health emergency services/crisis intervention to suicidal, homicidal, or psychotic patients.
This position will support the Federal Government's response efforts to COVID-19.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral a or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-09: 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree OR your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Provide appropriate and therapeutic services to patients; providing consultation and technical assistance on prevention and education information on suicide, behavioral health practices, and program development; complete mental health evaluations and/or assist in alcohol or treatment referrals.
GS-11: 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Apply advanced knowledge of psychopathology and provide professional therapeutic techniques in conducting evaluation of patient; provide therapeutic services based on comprehensive treatment plans outlining goals, methods and modality to meet treatment plans; provide emergency on-call crisis intervention; develop and manage case management services; coordinate referrals; complete case documentation in an electronic health record, work with quality assurance/performance improvement program; provide training to students and/or trainees.
Selective Placement Factor: This position requires a current, unrestricted U.S. State license in one of the following areas for services to children, adolescents and families: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), or Marriage, Family & Child Counselor (MFCC). Please provide a copy of your license with your application.
Quality Ranking Factor: Applicant preferred who have certification as a Registered Play Therapist.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
