The primary purpose of this position is to provide planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over the Center's Inspector Genial (IG) office. Serves as IG, with responsibility to review and oversee Department of Defense (DoD), Air Force (AF), and Center inspection programs.

Duties

Plans, directs, and manages the activities of the Inspector General Office, ensuring that programs comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet the needs of the organization. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities for a military and civilian staff. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management. Serves as the Commander's principal advisor on Air Force Complaints Resolution and Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (FW A) programs. Oversees the operation and management of Self-Assessment, Exercise, and Inspection programs. Makes technical and executive decisions that direct short-, mid-, and long-term activities of the Inspector General. Represents the Inspector General office and programs with a variety of Center and functional area organizations.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the Specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. This is a GG-14 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-14 duties for the "Administrative and Management" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-14 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include Knowledge of a wide range of complex inspection, investigation, enforcement, and/or compliance principles, concepts, and practices; as well as knowledge of Public Laws, Executive Orders, DoD Regulations, Air Force Instructions, administrative and legal procedures, and other decisions/standards related to agency activities and IG programs sufficient to conduct interviews, inspections, and investigations to analyze the nature of the complaint and specific issues to be addressed. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of a wide range of complex inspection, investigation, enforcement, and/or compliance principles, concepts, and practices; as well as knowledge of Public Laws, Executive Orders, DoD Regulations, Air Force Instructions, administrative and legal procedures, and other decisions/standards related to agency activities and IG programs sufficient to conduct interviews, inspections, and investigations to analyze the nature of the complaint and specific issues to be addressed. 2. Knowledge of Air Force, MAJCOM, and organizational program goals and objectives; IG functions, operations, policies, procedures, and practices; the sequence and timing of key operational events and milestones; and the relationship of various organizational entities involved in overall program planning and execution of military operations and evaluations. 3. Knowledge of personnel management, EEO, and safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. 4. Skill in assessing program needs to accomplish goals and objectives, evaluate program status, and recommend or implement solutions for improvement. 5. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of an organization; and to analyze, plan, and adjust work. Ability to manage a small staff and carry out all phases of personnel management responsibilities, operations to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. 6. Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing; as well as using tact and diplomacy during difficult circumstances to advise/inform on complicated, sensitive, and occasionally controversial issues. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Conditions of Employment Continued: Position is designated special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed. Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
